Push pull rod thingy help!

Post by Lloyd Walsh »

I’m attaching a photo of this nylon nut in hopes of finding a new one but don’t know what it’s called. It on an Excel PSG for the #1 string to raise it to G#. When i engage the lever it just pops out of this nylon bushing, like it’s wearing down and can’t hold the tension. At Home Depot now and the size is #3 fine thread (metric i suppose). Can anyone help point me in the right direction to find a replacement or advice on what i might be doing wrong?
Thanks!
Lloyd

Here it is sitting in its natural habitat with the rod removed, the one above it is for string #2 when engaging the same pedal(for reference).

So, does the rod slip out of that white barrel? Won't hold that threads? Is that your issue? If so, you probably need a new one. You can probalbly wrap the rod with some plumber's thread tape and might stay for a while.

Toshiyuki Shoji I think, is the source you need to purchase a new one. He is in Japan though.

If you can find a suitable size, barrel you can drill a hole and let the rod make threads as you screw it in. Nylon tuners are not threaded. The rod cuts the threads so that they fit tight.

Hardware stores do not have a wide variety anymore. Look around at Amazon. You might find a barrel of a different material, but the same size that will work too.

FWIW, I have one of those barrels off a Sierra. It's used but you're welcome to but I don't know if it's the same size.

Turn that barrel 90 degress, drill and tap a new hole of the proper size. Charts are readily available listing the necessary drill sizes for whatever thread is desired.

Thank you both so much, i’ll try the plumbers tape first then the flip 90°. If it fails i’ll reach out on your generous offer.

Again, i really appreciate the tips and your efforts in posting replies to help me out.

If the thread on the rod is a standard metric size.
Ace Hardware, Bushy Beaver, Home Depo, Lowes have metric nuts,
You may be able to find a proper size metal nut.
And reinforce the stripped nylon with a metal nut, On back side, Duck tape it to the stripped nylon, So the pull an be tuned. Till a new nylon piece nut, Can be ordered and received.
